Jon Vander Ark is president and CEO of Republic Services, a leader in the environmental services industry. He is responsible for leading the company’s strategy to generate profitable growth by partnering with customers to create a more sustainable world. Representing 40,000 employees, he also is charged with advancing Republic’s commitment to an inclusive and diverse workforce and culture. From 2019 through June 2021, Mr. Vander Ark served as president, responsible for the company’s ongoing transformation and continued growth, overseeing operations, sales, marketing, and business development. Previously, he was COO, where he was responsible for operationalizing the company’s strategy and executing its business plan across field operations. He also maintained functional responsibility for all operational support departments, including safety, engineering, environmental compliance, and fleet management. He joined the company in 2013. Prior to Republic, he was a partner at McKinsey & Company’s Detroit office, managing clients across a variety of industries. Mr. Vander Ark serves on the board of Chances for Children, an organization that uplifts the children of Haiti. He received a BA degree from Calvin College and a JD from Harvard Law School.
