Tom McInerney has served as president, CEO, and a director of Genworth Financial since 2013. Before joining Genworth Financial, he served as a senior advisor to the Boston Consulting Group from 2011 to 2012, providing consulting and advisory services to leading insurance and financial services companies in the U.S. and Canada. From 2009 through 2010, McInerney was a member of ING Group’s management board for insurance, where he was the COO of ING’s insurance and investment management business worldwide. Prior to that, he served in a variety of senior roles with ING Group NV after serving in many leadership positions with Aetna, where he began his career in 1978 as an insurance underwriter. McInerney is a director of Enact, Inc., a majority-owned mortgage insurance subsidiary of Genworth that is publicly listed on Nasdaq. He is also on the boards of the Virginia Learns, Reves International Center at William & Mary, and VA Ready. McInerney is a member of the American Council of Life Insurers and serves, and has served, on its CEO steering committees and board. He received his BA degree in economics from Colgate University and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He served on Tuck’s board of advisors for many years.
